Screen 1 at Orion Cinema in the heart of Dereham is usually filled with regular cinema-goers. Last month, however, it welcomed a different audience, as DSFC students, staff, family and friends arrived dressed to impress for the DSFC Film Awards 2025. As part of their coursework, our A Level Media Studies students produce a short film, and the Awards provided the perfect opportunity to showcase a preview of the impressive work they have been developing.

The exceptional talent and technical skill on display impressed everyone in attendance, and congratulations are due to all those involved in producing and submitting such outstanding entries. Awards were presented for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Male Actor, Best Female Actor and Best Special Moment. Special thanks go to Miss Thomas, Ms Wisbey and the Senate for organising and hosting the event; Miss Thomas, Ms Wisbey, Mrs Chavez, Mrs Wright and Mr Elphick for judging the categories; Mr Elphick, our Media Studies teacher, for creating this opportunity; students Alyssa Kasidas-Neale and Theo Middleton for the event photography; and to Orion Cinema for hosting us once again.
