STAFF INFORMATION BOARD

COURSES

We aim to help you access the most appropriate programme of study for you and to support you through those courses, enabling you to achieve a successful outcome at the end of your two years at the College.

Students will study three A-Level subjects, although in some circumstances, there is scope to select more than three. The general minimum entry requirements for the College are 6, 5 and three 4s at GCSE. Specific course entry requirements are given within the individual course details at the bottom of the page.

Some students achieving a majority of 7/8/9 grades at GCSE may wish to study four subjects. These subjects will often link closely with your future career plans and we will help you to choose the right courses based on your abilities and future goals. If you don’t achieve a 4 grade in your GCSE English or Maths courses you need to resit these again. Don’t worry though, we have a team of staff who will help you prepare for these resits and we have a really good record at helping people pass their Maths and/or English. If you do not achieve the grades you expected in your other subjects, or fall below the entry requiremenets for your chosen subject(s), please contact us.

From when you first apply, through to the first few weeks of term, we are flexible and can accommodate changes to your course choice based on your results, change of preference or experience of your first few weeks of study. After September we strongly discourage any changes, and changes onto new courses will not be permitted following the October half term so that you are not disadvantaged by missing too many weeks of a new subject.

All the subjects in an option block have their lessons at the same time, so you need to choose subjects from the different option blocks below, eg History in Block A, Sociology in Block C and Criminology in Block F. Some subjects are in more than one block to make it easier to find the combination you want.

If you wish to make an application during the spring / summer term (after online applications have closed) for the following September, please contact the Office on 01362 696884 or email office@derehamsixthform.norfolk.sch.uk

Year 12 Option Blocks 2026-27

These may be subject to change. We are also considering further AAQ qualifications, subject to government updates. Please check our website and social media for announcements and full details. On your application, please indicate the subject choices you would like to do. We will then be able to discuss these further with you in the new year once the full details of the qualifications have been confirmed.

The Extended Project Qualification is offered to all Year 12 students in the autumn term.
