BURSARIES

Bursary

At Dereham Sixth Form College our policy is to target the 16–19 Bursary to ensure that it reaches students who face significant barriers to participating in education and we target funds to help the students in greatest need. In doing so we ensure that the money is spent in ways which helps to break down the barriers and deals with the costs of being in education. This currently includes all Bursary students being provided with a laptop computer on which to complete their College research and work for the duration of their course.

All payments are subject to students meeting the agreed standards and targets expected from all students.  These include high levels of attendance, good behaviour, high levels of effort and organisation of work. Failure to meet the targets may result in payments being withheld.

Application Process and Payments

Students are emailed the application form for the 16-19 Bursary at the beginning of the academic year. For students entering year 12 these forms are included in the information pack sent to all enrolling students. Students can also apply for a bursary at other times, for example if the household circumstances change during the academic year, by obtaining a 16-19 Bursary Fund Application Form from Reception.

All Bursary payments are made directly to the student.
